Bacalar and the Lagoon of 7 Colors

Bacalar lies around 3 hours south of Playa del Carmen and is one of the “Pueblos Magicos” – Magical towns. The award Magical town was given to places within Mexico that are rich in history and culture.
However, the main attraction in Bacalar doesn’t lie inside of its village – but in front of it – the lagoon of the 7 colors. The different blue and turquoise colors that shimmer gave the lagoon its name. The water invites you for swimming and snorkeling. Around the lagoon various cenotes can be found.

On our tour to Bacalar we drive from Playa del Carmen to Bacalar. As soon as we get to the village we board a sailing boat and enjoy a 4-hour sailing trip on the lagoon. We discover hidden spots, make different swimming and snorkeling stops and observe the birds on the bird island. On the tour we learn more about the ecosystems in Bacalar and the stromatolites, that are very important to this area. After the sailing trip we discovery the village of Bacalar and have lunch in a local restaurant.
